Kenlow’s stunning new showroom in Mount Hawthorn has been entered in two categories in the upcoming 2014 Royal Australian Institute of Architects Awards.

The categories are ‘Small Projects’ and ‘Lighting’ and the winners will be announced in early July at a Gala Dinner to be held at Crown. In the meantime, all RAIA award entries will be on display for public viewing in the lobby of Brookfield Place, 125 St Georges Terrace in Perth from Monday 30 June to Friday 11 July between the hours of 9am to 5pm.

The showroom design was a joint collaboration involving architect Lee Syminton and designer Elle Deslandes. Originally the site of the Scarborough Bus Service depot, the building was tastefully renovated to reveal the striking steel framework and glass features in the roof of the building.

The steel framework features extensively throughout the showroom and is used sympathetically to display Kenlow’s wide range of patio blinds, awnings and other shade products. The choice of lighting too was designed to reflect a bygone age and the past use of the building.

Check back in July to see if Kenlow walks away with a gong or two! Judging by the public reaction to the showroom, there’s every possibility that they will.
